Looking for America
A Soundscape of Democracy
Featuring chapter quartet Four Cheese Blend
Saturday, June 13th, 2026 @ 4:00 PM
Philadelphia Ethical Society
1906 Rittenhouse Square
Looking for America is about rediscovering patriotism through a soundscape of song and the spoken word of great American thinkers, poets, and dreamers. The concert will use iconic music and beloved narratives to take the community on a journey through the triumphs, struggles, and promise of America in this semiquincentennial year.
The diverse program opens with the Star Spangled Banner’s questioning “O, say can you see?” and closes with the determined “Will the Circle Be Unbroken?” In between, songs range from protest to patriotic, spiritual to secular, and peaceful to empowering. Featured verses will be offered between the musical pieces, and will range from the New Testament to Abigail Adams to Martin Luther King, Jr to the poetry of Langston Hughes and Amanda Gorman.
Tickets are $20. Children 12 and under are free. Tickets may be purchased in advance using the button on this page, which directs you to Eventbrite.
